FAQ

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

WHY DO PATIENTS OPT FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

The presence of unwanted hair, whether on the upper lip, hands, feet, bikini area, or back, legs, and arms, is a top source of cosmetic anguish in the United States. Many are tired of having to repeatedly remove unwanted hair through tedious and painful methods such as shaving, waxing, and tweezing. In response, the demand for light-based permanent hair reduction has skyrocketed

WHO CAN GET LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Women and men alike. Most women seek to remove hair from their underarms, bikini lines, and legs, while men are more interested in treating hair on their backs and necks.

When hair removal lasers were initially introduced, the procedure was originally intended for patients with light skin and dark hairs. However, newer technologiesare safely and effectively treat patients of all skin types and hair colors.

WHAT’S THE STANDARD PROCEDURE LIKE?

During treatment, a light-based system emits bright flashes of light into the skin where the unwanted hair resides. The hair follicles absorb the light energy, heat up, and become damaged. Each pulse of light energy takes a matter of seconds and treats multiple hairs at once, making this procedure very quick and easy to perform. Treatments can last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. At Lavie Clinic  hair removal systems feature larger treatment heads for faster treatment sessions.

Because hair grows in different stages, multiple treatments are needed to target the hair follicles during their growth phase. Most patients need at least 4 to 6 treatments to see permanent, long-lasting results. Touch-ups may be required over time. Patients should see results after the first treatment – their hairs will grow back finer and weaker and the skin will become smoother. Results will become more noticeable and impressive with each additional treatment until all follicles are destroyed, successfully stopping continuous hair growth.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WHAT’S THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT?

Laser hair removal works by destroying the root of the hair follicle. During treatment, flashes of light are distributed over the skin and absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. The energy from the laser heats up and damages the hair follicle, successfully stunting the cells that stimulate regrowth. It is important to note that hair grows in a cycle, and that hair removal is only effective during the active growth stage.

Every hair goes through three stages of growth: the anagen phase, catagen phase, and telogen phase. The anagen phase, also known as the growth stage, is the duration in which your hair actively continues to grow. The catagen phase, also known as the transitional phase, is when the hair follicle shrinks and detaches from the papilla, a structure at the base of the follicle. The telogen phase, also known as the resting phase, is when the old hair is released and falls out. When the old hair sheds, the hair follicle re-attaches to the papilla and re-enters the anagen phase, repeating the cycle.

Each hair in your body can be at a different stage in the growth cycle at any given time. Thus, to target the hair during the anagen phase, multiple laser treatments are necessary to target the numerous hair follicles during their growth stage.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN PATIENTS EXPECT?

Most patients require 5 to 8 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve desired results. At Lavie virtually every patient – no matter their skin or hair type – can receive long-lasting removal results for unwanted hair. Patients with lighter hair may require more treatments than others, but will still see effective results by the end of their treatments.

Most patients need 6 to 12 treatments to achieve permanent hair reduction results. Treatments are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to target follicles during the growth stage. Regardless of the technology being used, patients will experience results at different rates, depending on their skin type and hair color.

HOW MUCH ARE TREATMENTS?

Hair removal pricing varies from the laser body part to the no of sessions needed. Most clinics base per treatment pricing on the size of the area being treated. At Lavie clinic we provide special treatment packages and bundles to help patients save more on multiple treatment plans and receive treatment on multiple parts of the body. We start with laser at AED 200 and can go up to AED 3000.

DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAVE PATIENTS MONEY?

Laser hair removal saves patients time, pain, and money. A recent article by Harper’s Bazaar compared the cost of 3 sessions of hair removal to 35 years of continuous waxing. The results showed that laser hair removal is less than a third of the cost of waxing.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF LIGHT-BASED HAIR REMOVAL?

The two main technologies used for permanent hair reduction are lasers (diode) and intense pulsed light (IPL) systems. IPL is not a very effective treatment and is short-lived.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LASER AND IPL TREATMENT?

Lasers produce a single, concentrated wavelength of light to specifically target melanin in the hair. Diode technology typically uses a wavelength around 800 nm to 810 nm. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) produces a wide spectrum of light, around 550 nm to 1200 nm, rather than one specific wavelength to target melanin in the hair. Otherwise, both treatments target hair efficiently to generate optimal results and essentially work in the same way.

SKIN REJUVENATION

WHAT IS SKIN REJUVENATION

Wrinkles, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture are widespread problems associated with aging. PRP FAQ

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a type of Regenerative Injection Therapy use to treat many soft tissue injuries (tendons and ligaments).

HOW IS PRP THERAPY PERFORMED?

PRP involves taking blood from a vein in the arm and placing it into a special centrifuge. The platelets are separated from the rest of the components of the blood. The platelets are combined with a special substrate to enhance the effects. This is then injected into the injured or painful area. Once healing takes place, over the course of a few weeks, the pain should lessen.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED WITH PRP?
  • Face Scars
  • Face rejuvenation
  • Skin tightening
  • Skin brightening
  • Skin glow
  • Acne
  • Pigmentation
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A CANDIDATE FOR PRP?

A consultation is required before any treatment may take place. The consultation includes a comprehensive review of your complaints, medical history and a thorough examination will be conducted. Diagnostic studies will be reviewed and/or ordered at the time of the consultation to determine the cause of your complaint(s). Once a diagnosis is established, Doctors at Lavie will discuss treatment options with you including if you are a candidate for PRP. Often, other non-surgical treatments may be tried first. PRP is often just one element of a comprehensive treatment program.

IS PRP PAINFUL?

While everyone’s pain tolerances vary, patient’s report a range of discomfort from mild to moderate with PRP injections. A needle is used to draw blood from a vein in the arm initially and then small needles are used to perform the actual injection(s).

HOW MANY INJECTIONS WILL I NEED?

This is no universal answer to this question. Typically 1 to 3 injections. Much of this depends on the chronicity and location of your problem. Some patients can successfully be treated with one injection while others require multiple injections over a time period to eliminate or reduce pain to an acceptable level.

How long does PRP take to perform?

Depending on the number of areas being treated, most procedures will be completed in 30 – 45 minutes.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT FROM PRP LAST?

This is different for everyone. Much depends on the underlying disease process and whether there have been a recurrent injury to the affected area. It is impossible to predict if and when further treatments will be needed for a specific condition. In some cases, patients do come back months or years later for repeat PRP injections.

IS PRP EXPERIMENTAL?

Most insurance carriers deem PRP as investigational as there has not been enough large studies of PRP conducted. Like other new medical technology, the science behind PRP is still developing. There are numerous Level I and II studies attesting to the safety and efficacy of use with specific musculoskeletal conditions.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

As with any type of injection, there is a small risk of infection, injury to blood vessels and risk of bleeding. There is a small risk of injury to a tendon or ligament when injected. While not truly considered a side effect, many patients will experience increased pain or discomfort for a temporary period following the treatment. If you have been ill or running fever, it is advisable to discuss this with the physician before considering this type of treatment.

CAN I BE ALLERGIC TO THE SOLUTIONS INJECTED ?

Although extremely rare, some patients may have an adverse reaction to their own serum. It is also possible to have a reaction to the substrate that is used.

WHAT IS THE SUCCESS RATE OF PRP?

The success rate of PRP therapy varies considerably. Much depends of the condition being treated, health status of the patient, age, and treatment protocol. Success is also highly subjective and dependent on the patient’s perception.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF PRP?

An initial consultation is required to determine if you are a candidate for PRP. Within our practice, we offer patients several options & packages. You can always call at Lavie Clinic to know the pricing.

WHAT CAN I DO AFTER HAVING PRP? ACTIVITY LEVELS?

It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids following your treatment. Your physician will advise you to limit strenuous activity such as working-out for a certain period. You should also avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications (Ex: Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) for at least 4 weeks. These medications inhibit the body’s ability to heal. It is important that you also complete follow-up visits so that the physician can evaluate your progress. Skipping appointments and waiting too long may compromise the effect of future treatments. Specific instructions will be provided at the time of your treatment. A structured rehabilitation program will often be included with PRP injections.

I KEEP HEARING ABOUT 'STEM CELLS'. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRP AND STEM CELLS?

PRP contains natural growth factors and vital proteins that can help heal injured areas of soft tissue. Following injection of PRP, stem cells are recruited to the area to promote tissue healing. Stem cell therapy is much more powerful than PRP. In stem cell therapy, new cells are created to grow new tissue and heal disease.

FAQ FOR MESOTHERAPHY

Which cosmetic conditions can Mesotherapy treat?

Although Mesotherapy is used to treat a broad spectrum of injuries, illnesses and medical conditions, it is also employed to treat cosmetic conditions, including acne, cellulite, stretch marks, scars and wrinkles. It can also be used to reduce and contour fat.

What are Mesotherapy's anti-aging and skin rejuvenation uses?

Subdermal vitamin injections rejuvenate the cells, making them more active, and thereby stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. You can begin anti-aging treatments in your mid twenties to prevent wrinkles from forming. Treatments for the face, neck, arms and hands are recommended several times each year.

How does Mesotherapy reduce or eliminate cellulite and fat?

Mesotherapy treats three factors involved in cellulite formation. Your practitioner creates a specific formula to reduce the fat in your cellulite, improve impaired circulation and break down damaged connective tissue – thereby smoothing the skin’s surface. Mesotherapy can treat cellulite located anywhere on the body.

When Will I see Results?

Results vary depending on your body type and the condition being treated. On average, patients notice visible improvement in two to three sessions. For certain conditions, patients see results after the first session.

Will the results last?

The results do last, especially when combined with exercise and proper nutrition. However, we cannot stop the natural aging that affects your appearance. For this reason, we recommend regular maintenance visits.

Are the treatments painful?

You may feel a slight pinching or burning sensation when the injections are administered. However, we can provide a topical anesthetic that makes treatment virtually painless.

Are there any side effects?

A common side effect of Mesotherapy is bruising, which generally resolves over one week. To speed up the healing process, we recommend that the homeopathic supplement arnica be taken either orally or applied topically on a daily basis. Patients may experience temporary soreness. This will subside within 24-48 hours.

Are there any Restrictions?

Restrictions vary, depending on the condition being treated. We discuss these with each patient before treatments commence. In general, patients are advised not to wear makeup for at least 4 hours after facial treatments, not to take hot showers for at least 6 to 8 hours. We recommend that patients eat a high-protein meal, and avoid caffeine or other stimulants before treatment.

The HydraFacial treatment removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective.

Am I a candidate for this treatment?

The Hydra Facial treatment is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the Hydra Facial treatment. Your physician or skincare professional may choose specific treatment serums and/or customize the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs. Consult your physician or skincare professional for a skin evaluation and sensitivity test.

How long does the treatment take? Is there any downtime or pain involved?

Continued Hydra Facial treatments are highly recommended to maintain skin health results.

FAQ ON FACIALS

Will my skin break out?

Break outs are not uncommon.  Facials detoxify, lifting impurities to the surface and should disappear within a week.  Many times clients are unaware of ingredients that their skin may have sensitivities to.  Be sure to alert your esthetician to any allergies or products your skin has reacted to in the past.  Also note that diet, stress, lack of sleep and hormone imbalance play into breakouts.  Be mindful of toxins such as sugar, alcohol and caffeine that can contribute to problematic skin.  Drink plenty of water to keep toxins flushed and skin hydrated.

Will my skin be red and irritated?

It is possible for your skin to be red from the steam and extractions. Our active ingredients and facial massage, also activate circulation which also causes redness. This can last several hours. Depending on the level of exfoliation used, your skin can also feel slightly itchy, dry and tight for a few days after.  Stay hydrated and moisturize skin as directed.  Be mindful of your diet and drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated.  Remember that alcohol and caffeine can also dehydrate skin and cause further redness.

Do I need to wash my face prior to the facial?

No, we’ve got you covered!

Will facials fix my acne, scarring, wrinkles and or hyperpigmentation?

It is our goal to help our clients achieve younger, beautiful skin! Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure and facials don’t always make all of these problems disappear.  Generally, facials will improve the skin, giving it a more healthy texture and vibrant appearance.  With proper diet, stress management, home care and routine facials or peels, these issues will diminish over time.

Can I wear makeup right after the facial?

It is best to let your skin breathe and absorb all of the nutrients from your treatment.  Some cosmetics may also irritate your skin. We do retail organic, hydrating and oil absorbing foundations that will protect and cover your skin.

How do I care for my skin after my facial?

We generally recommend being gentle with your skin after treatment. Do not exfoliate for at least 5 days after your facial.  Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and applying the proper moisturizer and sunscreen.  We can also recommend products to use at home to keep your skin glowing!

How often should I get facials?

Once EVERY 15 DAYS  for the best results, however if that is not in your budget, we highly recommend investing in a good skin care regimen for home and coming as often as you can for facials.  We do run monthly specials and offer packages to keep your visits affordable!

What to know about your treatment:

Our exfoliation methods are designed to remove epidermal layers of the skin using an appropriate acid or enzyme solution

Benefits of exfoliation:

  • Dries out active acne
  • Reduces shallow wrinkling and scarring
  • Lightens hyperpigmented areas (dark patches)
  • Improves the appearance and health of sun damaged and aged skin

Once the exfoliant has been applied, you will notice some tingling, itching and burning sensations.  Your skin may feel warm and spicy.  If there is severe discomfort, please alert your esthetician.

Please note that allergic reactions to some skin care ingredients are not uncommon.  Alert your skin care therapist of known allergies so that they can determine if any of our products may be unsuitable for your skin.

When the treatment is finished, the skin may become red due to the intensity of the exfoliant and extractions.

Post facial, the exfolation can cause:

  • Light flaking (dead cells lifting from skin) though it is not always visible.
  • Tight, dry skin (drink plenty of water and moisturize skin)
  • Breakouts can occur as the exfoliation process lifts impurities to the surface.

Allow your skin to go through this process naturally.  Do not pick or scrub your skin during the period of flaking. Always use sun protection and do not expose your skin to direct sunlight.

FAT FREEZING

WHAT IS FAT FREEZING?

If you struggle with persistent fat, you probably feel like you’ve tried it all. Between attempting the latest fad diet, spending hours at the gym, and trying out that new method that your friend swears by, you also likely feel discouraged that nothing is really working. Luckily, at Cool Renewal Spa in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have a solution that is non-invasive, quick, and most importantly, effective. We specialize in a fat freezing procedure known as CoolSculpting. When we perform this fat-reduction treatment on you, we will use targeted cooling to safely and effectively kill unwanted fat cells. During the weeks following the treatment, your body will naturally start to reduce these damaged fat cells, leaving you looking noticeably slimmer than when you first walked into our spa. If this is the first time you’ve heard about fat freezing, you probably think that it’s too good to be true. However, not only does this revolutionary procedure actually work, but it also

  • Only takes about an hour to complete
  • Does not require anaesthesia and does not require us to make any incisions on your body
  • Allows you to go back to your daily activities immediately without any downtime

The best part is that once the fat cells are reduced from your body, they won’t come back over time. However, in order for you to maintain your results, it’s best that you stick to a healthy diet and exercise plan. If you want to know more about the fat freezing procedure we offer at Cool Renewal Spa, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Long Does It Take To See Results After Fat Freezing?

Many patients notice changes in a few weeks after a complete treatment, but it may take up to four months to achieve full results.

Is Fat Freezing Painful?

It is rare for patients to experience significant pain. During the treatment, you will feel a pulling sensation on the targeted area. Then, after a few minutes, there may be a feeling of intense cooling and numbness. After a session, the treated areas are massaged. During this, some patients feel discomfort, while others have no problem. On rare occasions, tingling, discomfort, or nerve-related pain has been experienced for several days afterwards, and some patients do develop late-onset pain, which can be treated using a nerve blocking prescription, but this is very rare.

Are There Side Effects?

The Cool Sculpting Technician will not perform the procedure unless you are a healthy, appropriate candidate. Therefore, the most common side effect might be no effect at all! Patient selection is of paramount importance.

Will I Need More Than One Fat Freezing Treatment?

Some patients are happy with the results after one session, but it is often necessary to undergo two, or maybe three, treatments.

Breast Lift Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of breast lift surgery?

Breast lift surgery can literally give the breasts a “lift,” correcting the appearance of sagginess and excess skin. The procedure can ultimately reshape the breasts, lift the nipples to a higher position, and make the skin look and feel more youthful and firm. Our doctors also use advanced techniques to allow for enhanced projection and longer-lasting, natural-looking results. Many women begin to feel self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts once the natural aging process, raising children, and weight fluctuations have taken their toll. With breast lift surgery, the breasts can be beautifully revitalized and help you feel great about the way you look.

Do I need to have implants with a breast lift?

Breast augmentation with implants can be performed in combination with breast lift surgery; however, it is not required. If you would like to enhance volume for a fuller breast appearance in addition to lifting the breasts to a more youthful position, a breast lift with implants may be an ideal option. If you are not looking to significantly enhance the size of your breasts, a breast lift alone may be all that’s necessary. One of our plastic surgeons will talk with you about your options during the initial consultation and determine what would be best for your needs and goals.

Fat Grafting and “Natural” Breast Augmentation

At Lavie Clinic, we are able to take fat cells from one area of your body (obtained through liposuction performed in the waist, thighs, or another area containing pockets of excess fat) and inject them into the upper pole of the breasts to provide even greater breast enhancement. Fat grafting techniques can create a fuller, more natural appearance, and the results can be so significant that patients undergoing breast augmentation may require a smaller implant – or no implant at all – to attain their goals.

Can I still breastfeed after a breast lift?

Depending on the techniques and incision locations used during your breast lift surgery, it may still be possible for you to successfully breastfeed after the procedure. With that in mind, our plastic surgeons often advise patients considering breast lift surgery to wait until they have decided not to have any more children. Not only can breast lift surgery potentially compromise your ability to breastfeed, your breast lift results may also be negated after the physical effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding have set in.

How noticeable will the scars be?

There will be some degree of scarring after breast lift surgery; however, our plastic surgeons are extensively experienced with this procedure and will utilize advanced techniques to minimize the appearance of scars. Plus, the scars should fade over time. Incisions will also be placed in areas that can be easily hidden under clothing or swimwear.

Can I do exercises to lift my breasts?

While there are many opinions out there stating that certain exercises can provide your breasts with a “natural lift,” the fact is that only surgery can achieve the best results in most cases. Exercises cannot alter the position or shape of the breasts, and they cannot stop the drooping effect. Pregnancy, weight gain/loss, the natural aging process, and simple gravity stretch out ligaments and cause inelastic, loose skin in the breasts. Exercising, certain types of bras, good posture, and other factors may help with tone and some level of keeping the breasts looking “perky,” but surgery is the only way to eliminate loose skin and lift the breasts to a higher, more youthful position while providing them with a firmer and smoother appearance.

How much time should I allow for recovery before getting back to my normal routine?

Many patients are able to return to work or resume normal daily routines about one week after breast lift surgery. It’s important to follow post-operative instructions to the letter in order to make sure the breasts are healing properly. Discomfort during recovery can be managed with medication. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks after surgery. Adequate rest, adherence to instructions, and maintaining follow-up appointments can go a very long way toward ensuring you attain a safe recovery process and results that meet your goals.

THIGH LIFT

What is a thigh lift procedure?

A Thigh Lift is a procedure which lifts and tightens the loose skin on the inside area of the thighs. It does not usually lift the front or the back area of the thigh. Sagging of these areas as well as the outer thigh and buttock regions is usually best treated by way of a Body lift which is a much larger operation, and is associated with a scar right around the entire circumference of your body at the level of your waist. Unlike liposuction which only reduces the unwanted fat, a thigh lift will also remove the skin and therefore tighten the inner aspect of the thighs.

Am I a suitable candidate?

This will be decided at your consultation. If you are a smoker you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of surgery as smoking can result in poor healing. The best candidates are medically healthy men and women who are within a few pounds (i.e. 10%) of their ideal weight. If you are significantly more than this then you will be asked to reduce some weight before going ahead with any surgery. A thigh lift is usually performed to remove obviously loose, hanging skin, which has arisen as a result of some weight loss, and which will not go with even the most diligent of exercises and diet.

What type of thigh lifts are there?

There are two different types of thigh lifts that can be performed depending on the extent of skin laxity. If the skin laxity and rippling is mostly limited to the upper inner thighs, a Medial upper Thigh Lift can be performed. In this procedure the excess skin and fat is removed in the upper inner thigh region and the scar is located along the groin crease extending down inwards behind and into the buttock crease. This scar is usually well hidden. In cases where people have lost a significant amount of weight and are left with extensive laxity and rippling of the skin along the entire inner aspect of the thigh all the way down to the knees, then an Extended medial Thigh Lift is usually performed. In addition to the scar of the groin crease, there is also a long vertical scar that extends along the inner thigh (similar to the inseam of a pair of trousers) many times right down to the inner knee region. This vertical scar enables us to remove the lax excessive skin of the entire thigh just as the inner seam of a pair of trousers determines the width of a trouser leg. As a result of the extensive skin involvement, this procedure is usually more involved than the medial upper thigh lift. However when extensive skin laxity and fat excess is present then this is usually the only option.

Is liposuction alone an option?

Liposuction removes fat cells and does not affect the skin. Therefore if your problem is due to loose skin, performing any form of liposuction will lead to an exacerbation of your problem and make the area look worse with excess loose skin developing. The only time liposuction is a better choice is when there is a lot of fat and the skin is tight. When the skin is loose, a thigh lift is usually the best choice.

Can a Thigh lift be combined with Liposuction?

Yes. Both the Medial and Extended Thigh Lift can often be combined with limited Liposuction in order to better contour the legs and also to reduce the size of the “saddle bags” or love handles or other areas.

What does a Thigh lift operation involve?

The basic aim of a Thigh lift involves removing excess skin along with associated fat from the inner thighs and then suturing the ends together. In principle it is a very straightforward surgical procedure. However due to the large area and length of wound that requires suturing it is somewhat time consuming and can take up to 2 hours to complete the procedure. The incision line is sutured with dissolving stitches and surgical tapes are the applied to the surface of skin.

Is a Thigh lift painful?

Pain and discomfort is always subjective. You may find that any pain you feel is probably more noticeable when standing or and walking in the first few days following surgery and usually involves a pulling or tightening sensation in the inner aspect of the thighs. It is advisable therefore that for the first week or so you should take regular painkillers in order to minimise this.

What kind of after effects should I expect?

Following surgery you will experience considerable swelling and some bruising of the thigh region. This will be even more noticeable if the thigh lift was accompanied by liposuction. A compression garment will help reduce this. The bruising usually lasts about 3 weeks. While most of the obvious swelling will have dissipated by this time, subtle swelling will still be present for up to 6 months. In addition you will notice that some areas of the thighs will feel firm or hard to touch, particularly along the edges of the incision site. This will be as a result of the normal healing process laying down elements of scar tissue to facilitate healing. When this occurs, massage as instructed by OUR SUREONS will speed up the recovery. It gradually resolves in time but may take a few months to complete. You should expect the sensation to the skin over the inner parts of the thigh to be reduced after surgery, however this recovers again after a few months.

How long is the recovery?

Most patients usually need 2 weeks off work or any strenuous duties. Depending on the type of Thigh lift that was performed and provided healing proceeds uneventfully, many patients feel that they can gradually start to resume their normal activities after this with the view to be able to exercise fully from 6 weeks after thigh lift surgery. It is important to remember that some minor swelling will still be present at this stage and will take some months to fully reside.

Why Should I Choose Thigh lift Surgery?

A Thigh lift provides an excellent solution to individuals who are troubled by redundant and excess skin and fat on their thighs. Providing you accept a potentially lengthy scar and recovery period, the results can be fantastic. This procedure will give confidence to the individual and allow them to wear clothesand do things that previously felt unsuitable. The effects are generally long lasting providing you follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly.

FACELIFT

What is a facelift?

A facelift is a plastic surgery procedure that aims to correct and improve several areas of the face and neck. The procedure elevates the midface (the cheeks), improves the lower face jowls, and defines the neck. In the neck it specifically corrects the platysmal bands that develop and picks up the sagging skin. A facelift, per se, does not correct the upper face. A browlift is the procedure of choice for that area. Doctors at Lavie commonly use fat transfer to help augment and fill certain areas that the facelift may not address. The facelift does not improve the quality or the texture of the skin. For these issues, Doctors at Lavie may recommend a skin resurfacing technique such as a medium depth peel.

Who is the best candidate for a facelift?

Because a facelift procedure is an elective procedure, candidates must be in optimum health. Doctors at Lavie require that all patients undergoing a facelift procedure have medical clearance. We believes that the ideal candidate is one who is beginning to show the signs of aging. The common question that patients ask our doctors regarding a facelift is, “Is it better to have your facelift done younger or older?” Well, this is something that Doctors at Lavie has struggled with for some time, over time he has seen that patients that have their facelift done at a younger age, typically have better results. The reason is that younger patients have better skin quality. Their skin has more elasticity and conforms better to the underlying facial and neck muscles. While there is no magic number, most patients have significant signs of aging at age fifty.

Are there any limitations to what a facelift can achieve?

Unfortunately, a facelift cannot stop the aging process. A facelift does not change the quality or texture of the skin. A facelift, can, however, give the patient a more freshened and rested appearance. A common question that patients ask Doctors at Lavie about the facelift procedure is “How much younger will I look?” We believes that the facelift procedure may turn the clock back and allow the patient to look approximately ten years younger.

All our doctors are a firm believer that the patient undergoing a facelift procedure should know exactly what is going to be done, how and why. Next, we will explain what type anesthesia the anesthesiologist will be using and describe the entire process from the pre-operative stage to the recovery. You will then meet with the Jessica, the patient care coordinator, who will guide you through the scheduling process.

The facelift procedure can be performed with either IV sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia. The anesthesiologist will evaluate you and determine which is the safest anesthesia for you.

How is the actual facelift procedure performed?

The facelift that Doctors at Lavie performs is the deep plane facelift. The reason that he prefers this technique to others is because the deep plane produces a very smooth and taught neck and a very natural appearing result.

The facelift procedure begins with liposuction done through a tiny incision just behind the chin (some patients may not need liposuction). The incision is then made a tiny bit larger and the neck muscles are tightened. This produces a nice, taught, and contoured neck. The incisions are then made around the ear, in a post-tragal fashion. This means that the facelift incisions are hidden in specific areas, so that they become imperceptible when they are healed. The facial muscles are then tightened and elevated just the right amount. The skin is then draped over, trimmed and closed with very small stitches.

TUMMY TUCK

What cosmetic concerns can be treated?

Tummy tuck surgery is designed to improve the appearance of a prominent lower stomach region, which is often caused by loose, excess skin and lax abdominal muscles. In many instances, stubborn deposits of fat in and around the abdomen can also be removed.

What does the procedure entail?

Though the procedure will be tailored to address each patient’s unique needs and goals, abdominoplasty generally involves the tightening of abdominal muscles, the excision of excess skin, and the removal of fat via liposuction. During a full tummy tuck, an incision will typically be made low on the abdomen, extending from one hip to the other. Similarly, the incision for a mini tummy tuck will be concealed low on the abdomen, though it is often a bit shorter in length. Depending on the technique and extent of work involved, the operation generally takes approximately two to four hours to complete.

What’s the difference between a full and mini tummy tuck?

Both full and mini abdominoplasties involve the tightening of abdominal muscles and the removal of excess skin. The main difference is that the full tummy tuck is typically employed to rejuvenate the areas both above and below the belly button whereas the mini tummy tuck is generally confined to the lower abdomen below the belly button. BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

This procedure will treat a flat or sagging backside, but not through the use of implants. Instead, it provides fullness to the buttocks by using excess fat from the thighs, abdomen, or hips through liposuction. The happy byproduct of this is, of course, that in the process of getting a beautiful new butt, your plastic surgeon will also sculpt your body through the fat-harvesting process. Additionally, using your body’s own fat will result in a much more natural-looking appearance.

Who is an ideal candidate for the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

For individuals who are looking to either lift or enhance their buttocks, the Brazilian Butt Lift is a great choice. It can help boost confidence and make a person feel much happier with how they look in or out of clothes. If a flat booty is throwing off a person’s proportions, the Brazilian Butt Lift can address this as well, making one appear more balanced. For any cosmetic procedure, it is important for any potential patient to have realistic expectations and to be in good health.

What are the differences between a Brazilian Butt Lift and butt implants?

As previously mentioned, the Brazilian Butt Lift uses a patient’s own fat, providing a more natural look. Implants, on the other hand, might be preferable for those who are not eligible for fat grafting. The implant procedure involves inserting silicone implants through an incision made on the vertical butt crease either into or above the gluteal muscle.

How long does it take for a patient to recover from a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Recovery can vary on a patient-by-patient basis, though many are able to see immense improvement within a week. In some cases, recovery might take longer, though butt lift patients are generally able to return to moderate activity within 3 to 4 weeks.

How long will the results of my Brazilian Butt Lift last?

If you are concerned about the results of your Brazilian Butt Lift having the lifespan of a mayfly, worry not. Generally, you can expect the results to last up to 20 years. A portion of the fat that is injected into a patient’s body will naturally get reabsorbed, but the majority of it stays and remains permanent. Over the years, the shape of any person’s body will change, but a patient should be able to retain the results of this procedure by maintaining a stable body weight. Any dramatic gains or losses in weight could affect the shape and feel of the butt lift procedure. Additionally, smokers tend to experience more reabsorption of the injected fat compared to those who do not smoke.

Are there any risks associated with the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?

All surgical procedures involve some risk, no matter how marginal. To best ensure you minimize these risks, choose a board-certified plastic surgeon and discuss any health issues you might have. Your plastic surgeon will be able to advise you on what the potential risks might be and if you are a suitable candidate for this procedure.

What if I do not have enough body fat?

Most individuals have enough fat to harvest for this procedure, but if you have low levels of overall body fat, you might not be a candidate for this procedure. If you are drastically underweight, a plastic surgeon might advise you to gain weight before considering you for this procedure.
